Our Biblical Foundation

At Faith Baptist Church, we stand firmly on the teachings of the Bible as the inspired, inerrant Word of God. Our Statement of Faith represents the core biblical truths that guide our worship, teaching, and ministry. While secondary issues may vary among believers, these fundamentals form the theological foundation of our church family.

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (KJV)

Our Core Beliefs

The Bible

We believe that each word of the Holy Scriptures is inspired of God. The Scriptures are God-breathed, inerrant, and infallible; and are the final authority for faith and practice.

We believe that inspiration and preservation are inseparable and that God has preserved His Word for English-speaking people in the King James Bible.

2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105, 160; Matthew 24:35

God

We believe there is one living and true God, the Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all divine perfections.

He reveals Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—distinct persons yet one in essence, co-equal and co-eternal.

Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 4:24; 2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He is fully God and fully man, who lived a sinless life and perfectly fulfilled God’s will. Through His substitutionary atoning death on the cross, bodily resurrection, and ascension into heaven, He secured redemption for all who believe.

He is our Lord, Savior, High Priest, and the only Mediator between God and man. He will return personally and visibly to earth.

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired the Scriptures and continues to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He regenerates, baptizes, indwells, seals, and empowers all believers at the moment of salvation.

The Spirit transforms lives, bestows spiritual gifts for service, guides believers into all truth, and assures us of our salvation.

John 14:16-17, 26; 16:7-14; Romans 8:9-17; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:13-14; Galatians 5:22-23

Humanity

We believe that God created humanity, male and female, in His own image. Adam, the first man, sinned by disobedience, and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God. As a result, all human beings are born with a sinful nature and are sinners in thought, word, and deed.

Despite our inherent dignity as image-bearers, we are in need of salvation, which can only be obtained through God’s grace.

Genesis 1:26-27; 2:17; 3:6; Romans 3:10, 23; 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3

Salvation

We believe salvation is the free gift of God’s grace, received solely through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. It is not earned by works, religious rituals, or church membership, but is given by God’s mercy and love.

All who repent of their sin and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become new creatures in Christ, eternally secure.

John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-7; Romans 10:9-10, 13; 1 Peter 1:18-19; John 10:28-29

The Church

We believe the New Testament church is a local, visible assembly of baptized believers, covenanted together for worship, fellowship, edification, and the observance of the ordinances. It is autonomous, self-governing, and directly accountable to Christ, the head of the church.

The church is commissioned to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to observe all that Christ has commanded.

Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:41-47; 1 Corinthians 1:2; Ephesians 1:22-23; 1 Timothy 3:15; Matthew 28:19-20

Baptism & Lord’s Supper

We believe there are two ordinances given to the local church: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We practice believer’s baptism by immersion in water as a public testimony of faith in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, and as a symbol of identification with Him.

The Lord’s Supper is a memorial in which believers partake of bread and fruit of the vine, remembering Christ’s sacrifice until He comes again.

Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:36-39; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Last Things

We believe in the personal, imminent, pre-tribulation, and pre-millennial return of Jesus Christ for His saints (the Rapture). This will be followed by a seven-year tribulation period, after which Christ will return to earth with His saints to establish His millennial kingdom.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust: the just to eternal life in heaven, and the unjust to everlasting punishment in hell.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Revelation 19:11-16; 20:1-6, 11-15; John 5:28-29; Matthew 25:46

Evangelism & Missions

We believe it is the solemn obligation and privilege of every believer and local church to be actively involved in spreading the Gospel to all nations. We are committed to making disciples, baptizing them, and teaching them to observe all that Christ has commanded.

This involves both local outreach and the support of worldwide missions.

Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:13-15

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some common questions about our beliefs and practices:

We understand “inspiration” to mean that God divinely “breathed out” the very words of Scripture through human authors, so that the Bible in its original manuscripts is inerrant (without error) and infallible (incapable of error), and is our sole and final authority for faith and life.

Baptism by immersion (being fully submerged in water) best symbolizes the believer’s identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as clearly taught and exemplified in the New Testament. It is an act of obedience for those who have already placed their faith in Christ.

We believe in one God who exists eternally in three distinct but co-equal and co-eternal Persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. Each Person is fully God, yet there is only one God.

We affirm that God is sovereign in all things, including salvation, and that He lovingly offers salvation to all people. We believe that individuals have the responsibility to respond to God’s offer of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. These are both biblical truths that we hold in balance.
